So most of our products go through an extensive process of, painting, very light sanding, carving, hammering and so on. This is to ensure it has the perfect rustic look and feel. Just the right amount of "I'm new but don't look it" style. We don't provide a piano finish..this isn't rustic to us. All items that need it are given a good single dose of polyurethane. This protects the wood but isn't enough to make it super shiny all over. Again, that isn't rustic farmhouse.
